Wonder Words
One of the best ways to reflect your audience’s thoughts is to create real-time word clouds as they populate the chat. As people type in answers into the chat, the popular options become bigger.
To run this interaction during a live session or add it to your Run of Show, you simply need to click on the Wonder Words feature and fill it in with a question.
Wondering what kind of questions work best? It’s simple: the ones that result in a one to two-word answer.
Here are some great warm-up questions to ask your audience using Wonder Words:
- What is your favorite fruit?
- What languages do you speak?
- Name one color you’re wearing today.
- What do you do to exercise?
- Drop a book recommendation in the chat.
Want more control over Wonder Words? Options include a profanity filter, splitting up phrases into words, and more. You can also “Combine Similar Answers”. Play around with the colors too!
Once you have Wonder Words running, you can reset or edit your word cloud. Resetting Wonder Words lets you start with a blank slate. There is also an Edit button to remove answers you aren’t thrilled with.
Magic Maps
One of the first questions asked in every live session is “Where are you joining us from?” StreamAlive has the perfect feature—the Marvelous Ms. Magic Maps—to populate your audience’s locations onto a real-time map.
All you need to do is click on the Magic Maps feature and fill it in with a location-related question.
Here are some great warm-up questions to ask your audience with this feature:
- Where are you joining us from?
- Where in the world have you visited before?
- What is your dream city to live in?
- Where are you traveling to next?
- What was the most interesting place you’ve visited?
When setting up your question, you have the ability to allow each attendee to type in only one location if your question requires it of you. Since the map creates clusters if there are many people from a certain city or country, you can also edit the colors of your clusters to highlight the ones that stand out. Note that you can always reset your Map when needed.
Power Polls
From Zoom to Microsoft Teams, most streaming platforms include a built-in polling service. However, these polls often can’t be accessed after the stream is over and don’t allow participants to view the results in real time. Enter StreamAlive’s Power Polls.
With dynamic polls that capture your audience’s choices, you can show the audience which option was the real winner.
To run this interaction during a live event or add it to your Run of Show, you simply need to click on the Power Polls feature and fill it in with a question. You can choose to add options or leave it to pick up answers from the chat.
Now, you may be wondering what kind of question works best. It’s simple: one that has many well-known options:
- How many hours of sleep do you get every night?
- What’s your favorite movie currently running in theatres?
- Portrait or landscape?
- What is your age group?
- What time zone are you currently in?
When running a poll without options, simply type in the question you wish to ask your audience. StreamAlive will magically pick up the answers from the chat and populate them into the poll as needed. You may also use the Edit options to delete options that don’t match the question.
When running a poll with options, type in your question and the corresponding options before starting the interaction. Your audience will only need to type in the option number.
You can change your Power Polls settings: If needed, set up a profanity filter, accept only one option per attendee, or even play with the poll colors.
Once you have your Power Poll running, note that you can reset your poll at any time.
Transient Thoughts
We all know the difference between a short-answer question and a long-answer question when faced with one on a test. We have our preferences, as people who prefer to keep things curt or as ramblers. If you have a question that makes others want to ramble, all you need to do is click on the Transient Thoughts feature and fill it in with a long-answer question.
Here are some great warm-up questions to ask your audience with this feature: 1. What does your morning routine look like? 2. What is the best book you’ve ever read? 3. If you could bring back any fashion trend what would it be? 4. What’s your favorite holiday tradition? 5. If you could live in a fictional universe, which one would you choose?
When setting up your question, you can allow each attendee to type in only one thought, and prevent them from swearing in it too. Change up the color schemes and feel free to play with the playback speed as well, especially if you’re a slow reader. Note that you can always reset the interaction.
Choice Circle
Being overwhelmed by choice is a real thing, and sometimes you simply don’t want to be the one to make a choice. Instead of spending time weighing out the impacts of each decision and how you’ll be perceived, Choice Circle will make the decision for you.
What are some great uses for this feature?
- Which team should present next?
- Where will our next team lunch be held?
- What StreamAlive feature should we use next?
- Who is responsible for this item?
- Which color should we pick for this item?
Set up the choice circle with the options you’re picking from—you can add up to 20—and play around with your colors to match the theme and mood of this impending decision.
