How to embed StreamAlive interactions within Canva

Whether you’ve just discovered StreamAlive through Canva’s integration features or you’re already familiar with chat-powered engagement, you’re about to transform your static slides into live, interactive visual experiences.

This guide will walk you through the super-fast process of embedding StreamAlive interactions directly into your Canva slides using simple copy-and-paste.

What is StreamAlive?

StreamAlive is an audience engagement platform that connects to your live meeting and streaming tools (like Zoom, Microsoft Teams, YouTube, etc.). It listens to your live audience chat and turns their text comments into real-time visual interactions, like word clouds, polls, tile charts, spinners, and maps—all without your audience needing to scan QR codes or open separate browser tabs. They just type in the chat, and the magic happens directly on your Canva slides!

Step-by-Step: Embedding Interactions in Canva

Adding StreamAlive to Canva is as easy as copying a link and pasting it onto your canvas. Follow these steps:

  1. Open your Canva Project: Navigate to the specific project where you want to add interactivity.

  2. Create a New Page: Identify a place in your project where an interaction would be most impactful and add a new page there.

  3. Next, you’ll need to copy the StreamAlive interaction link that you want to add to this slide. Follow the steps below:

    1. If you don't have a StreamAlive account, simply sign up for a free one at streamalive.com.

      Log in to your       StreamAlive account (app.streamalive.com) and find the presentation that contains your interaction. If you don't have a presentation already, simply create one, or use StreamAlive's AI to create a whole bunch in a few seconds.

    2. Scroll through the StreamAlive slide thumbnails to find the specific interaction you want to use.  Right-click on the interaction and select "Copy interaction link."

    3. Head back to your open Canva project. Navigate to the slide where you want the interaction to appear.


      Now, right-click on the slide and select "Paste"


      or use your keyboard shortcuts:

      1. Windows/ChromeOS: Ctrl + V

      2. Mac: Cmd + V

  4. Canva will automatically recognize the StreamAlive link and transform it into an embedded live interaction box right on your slide! You can resize and reposition the embedded box to fit your design perfectly.

Going Live: Connecting to Your Audience

NOTE: To interact with the embed, you will need to double-click the mouse over the embed to make it active or enter presentation/fullscreen mode.

Once your pages are ready and it’s time to present, follow these steps to go live:

  1. Step 1: Signing up/Logging in. 

  2. Step 2: Connect a Session. Go to any page containing a StreamAlive interaction, and choose the platform (Zoom, Teams, YouTube, etc.) you will be presenting your Canva Project to.

  3. Step 3: Link the Meeting. Enter your meeting or session link so StreamAlive can "read" the chat. (For more in-depth guides, click here)

  4. Step 4: Admit the bot into the meeting/session

  5. Step 5: Start Presenting. Share your screen Just as you would to show your presentation to your audience, and tell your audience to simply answer your prompt in the chat.
