Zoom Webinars
Updated over 3 weeks ago

If you are doing a regular Zoom meeting, please refer to the documentation on connecting to a Zoom meeting.

Connecting StreamAlive to a Zoom webinar can be achieved in two ways:

  1. Through the Web App

  2. Through the Zoom App

In this article, we’ll explain the first point which is through the web app. However, here’s the documentation if you’d like to explore using the StreamAlive app for Zoom.

The StreamAlive bot connects to your webinar and picks up your audience's comments. StreamAlive then turns them into the visual interactions on your screen.

Important things to note:

  1. To connect to a webinar, you will need to use a panelist link for StreamAlive to access the session. If you’re not sure where to find the panelist link, refer to the article - How do I find the Zoom Meeting link/Webinar Panelist link?

  2. If attendee authentication is enabled for your webinar, the StreamAlive bot will not be able to join. Make sure this option is disabled when creating your Webinar.

Now that we’ve covered the prerequisites for connecting to a Zoom webinar, let’s dive into the process:

  1. Log in to StreamAlive and go to the Sessions tab

  2. Click on + Add session

  3. A pop-up window will appear showing you the supported platforms. Click on “Zoom”.

  4. Enter your webinar details.

Online meetings/webinars typically involve details such as the meeting date and time, the platform or software being used (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet), the meeting agenda or topics to be discussed, any presentations that will be shared, and instructions for joining the meeting (such as a meeting link or ID/password).

    For this step:

    1. Type in the webinar title.

    2. Enter the webinar panelist link
(Note: Please remember that for Zoom Webinars, the StreamAlive bot can only read the responses in chat if it is admitted as a panelist and not as an attendee)
If you need help finding the Webinar Panelist link, please refer to our article on How do I find the Zoom Meeting link/Webinar Panelist link?

    3. Enter the date and time of the upcoming session

    4. Click on the “Schedule Session” button

  5. Add your StreamAlive presentation to the session

Your StreamAlive presentation contains your polls, word clouds, spinner wheels, and other interactions that are powered through StreamAlive using the chat.

If you don't have a presentation prepared you can continue without one and use the quick interactions instead.

If you want to use a presentation to plan your interactions and slides in advance, you can create a presentation by clicking on the + New presentation button on the bottom left corner of the pop-up.

Now, once selected, click on Add session.

  6. Your session has been scheduled.

When the time comes, find your scheduled session and click on Present

  7. A pop-up will appear asking if you would like to display an overlay asking your audience to type the answers in the chat.

Typing in the chat to interact with a poll or word cloud is such a new experience for many audience members that they need a prompt or push to “put it in the chat!”

  8. The StreamAlive bot will join the session

Once you've decided on the overlay, StreamAlive will open a new page called the Go Live Presentation screen with a window saying that the bot will be connecting soon.

  9. Share your screen

Once it’s open, use Zoom’s share screen feature to share the tab of StreamAlive's Go Live presentation screen with your audience. It’s just like sharing a PowerPoint or Google Slides presentation.

  10. Ask your audience/attendees to type their answers in the chat

When the interaction you created in your presentation is shown on the screen you can ask your audience to enter their answers in the chat. StreamAlive will automatically pick up their answers and update the interaction on your screen in real-time.

  11. StreamAlive powers the interaction

The StreamAlive bot will then take these responses and power the interaction.

With that, you have successfully learned how to connect to a Zoom Webinar
